The All Progressive Congress (APC) under the newly elected National Party Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu has today declared all nomination forms for all categories free for women ahead of the 2023 general election. The progressive boosts that this was one of its efforts to empower the female gender against the marginalization of women in politics. The National women leader of the party, Ms. Betty Edu made this known today while holding a press conference at the party's National Secretariat.
In her statement, “We are the largest party in Africa and we want to make a strong statement that we stand by inclusion, mainstreaming for women. The party has gone ahead to approve that women will be running with a free nomination form.
According to her, the party has thrown the ball into their court. Formerly, women use to say they have no exorbitant money being charged by political parties on the nomination form, but now the party has finally smiled at them by offering them this opportunity to run on a free ticket, saying APC is a party that is ready to mainstream women.
The women leader revealed that what the ruling party is offering women is more than just the 35% affirmative action they demanded.
She urged women to get involved in politics and its processes that would help them lead to the 2023 general election victory.
