Fayose Advices Obasanjo To Submit Himself For Probe

The outspoken Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has beckoned on former President Olusegun Obasanjo to submit himself for probe by the Muhammadu Buhari led administration and clear his name and stop raising unnecessary alarm.

Governor Fayose made the comment in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, while reacting to the former President's allegations that the Federal Government is plotting to silence him, using false witnesses to indict and possibly arrest him.

The National Assembly will fast track the passage of the new national minimum wage bill, once the executive bill is sent to it.

Sen. Mao Ohuanbuwa, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, made this known while speaking with newsmen on Friday in Geneva, Switzerland.

Ohuanbuwa said that the Senate President had already given the assurance that the bill would be given express hearing and passage by the legislature.

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has raised the alarm that the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has put his name on its security watchlist.

Obasanjo claimed security agencies are plotting to arrest and put him in detention.

The former president made these allegations in a statement signed by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Friday in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo noted that the present administration wanted to blackmail him into abandoning his divine mandate to protect the rights of Nigerians to a better life.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday signed a constitutional amendment that stops a vice president who completes the term of a president from contesting for the office of the President more than once.

The same is applicable to a deputy governor who completes the term of a state governor.

Senator Enang said, “I just want to inform you that His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari today assented to the Constitution Fourth Alteration Bill which grants financial authonomy and independence to the Houses of Assembly of the respective states and to the Judiciary of the respective states.

The House of Representatives plenary turned rowdy on Thursday over President Muhammadu Buahri’s declaration of June 12 as the new Democracy Day.

The lawmakers debated the powers of the Executive to make such pronunciation.

President Muhammadu Buhari had made the declaration in a statement on Wednesday that June 12 would replace May 29 as Democracy Day because it was a more symbolic day.
