Sen. Shehu Sani, has filed a counter claim at the Kaduna State High Court against Gov. Nasir El-Rufai claiming N5 billion for alleged libellous broadcast.

Gov. El-Rufai had in February sued Sani demanding N500 million for alleged defamatory statement contained in a publication.

Sani, who represents Kaduna Central senatorial district, filed the Statement of Defence and Counter-Claim on April 20.

Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has granted an order restraining the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, from further publishing the name of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Uche Secondus, in his looters’ list.

Although the defendants or their representatives were absent in court, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Iyayi Laminikara, who presided over the matter of libel, also asked the plaintiff to serve the defendant with the appropriate notice.

Mr Secondus had on March 31, 2018, demanded a public apology and the sum of N1.5billion as compensation, following the list of alleged looters revealed by the Federal Government.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop covering the All Progressives Congress (APC) but rather make public its findings on underage voters in various states, particularly Kano and Katsina.

In a statement Monday, the spokesman of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the party was aware that “the investigation unearthed a multitude of underage voters, particularly in Kano and Katsina, but that INEC has been instructed by the APC and the Presidency to conceal the alleged crimes, which they plan to use to rig the 2019 election.

Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon says he is praying fervently that Nigeria should not go through another civil war after the ugly experience of the first civil war. Gowon, who was speaking to newsmen after attending a special prayer summit in Yenagoa, said that he had prayed and hoped at the end of the Nigerian Civil War, that the country would not go through that path again.

The crisis between the proscribed Parliamentary Support Group and others senators deepened on Sunday, as the senior lawmakers threatened to expose their colleagues in the PSG. Some senators claimed that contrary to the claim of the PSG members, they (PSG senators) were not working for President Muhammadu Buhari. Members of the PSG are simply against the amendment to the Electoral Act.
