The House of Representatives Deputy Majority leader and member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Buba Jibril is dead. Hon. Jibril, a three time member of the House died at the age of 58. One of his political associates, Mr. Amuda Dan Sulaiman who confirmed the incident to newsmen said he died in the early hours of Friday.

The Deputy National Chairman South, of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Engr. Segun Oni has resigned his position.

Oni, a former governor of the Ekiti state has formally declared his intention to vie for the governorship ticket of the All Progressive Party, APC.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he is delighted to join Christians to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration.

In his message released on Thursday, the president thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate another Easter despite current challenges.

Noting that Easter is the season in which Christians mark the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which represents the triumph of good over evil and life over death, Buhari added that the period is also a time to show love, forgiveness, compassion and renewed hope in the Grace of God.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a statement celebrating a former Governor of Lagos State, Mr Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of his 66th birthday on Thursday (March 29). The statement signed Wednesday, by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the APC praised his efforts towards nation-building and described him as a frontline politician, who has built lasting political bridges across divides in the country.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to ensure that vote buying at polling units is stopped during elections.

Professor Yakubu made the appeal yesterday when the IGP paid a routine visit to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, in preparation for Ekiti and Osun States governorship polls as well as 2019 general elections.

The INEC chairman, who expressed worry over the development in recent elections, said vote buying was a malpractice and violation of the Electoral Act.

All three senators from Kaduna state, led by Shehu Sani on Thursday blocked the approval for a $350million loan request by Governor Nasir El-Rufai. It was like a vengeance of sort as all the senators spoke against the loan. El-Rufai has had a very poor relationship with the trio, even demolishing the home of one of them Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, used as an office for a faction of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

The Federal Executive Council has approved the sum of N20 billion for the rehabilitation of Ikorodu-Shagamu road in Lagos State South-West Nigeria. Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed revealed this while briefing journalists at the end of Wednesday’s cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Bujhari.
