Second republic Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, collapsed early morning Saturday at his Independence Layout residence, Enugu and is currently at the Intensive Care Unit of Memfys Hospital for Neurosurgery, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State, according to reports by the PUNCH.

The development comes barely 20 days after he celebrated his 85th birthday on October 10.

President Muhammadu Buhari will soon appoint more ministers into his cabinet. He will also make board appointments, a demand by his party members over the months.

President Buhari gave hints of the new appointments in a speech delivered Tuesday to the National Executive of the All Progressives Congress at the national secretariat in Abuja.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for sacking the suspended Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr Ayodele Oke without handing them over to the country’s anti-graft agencies.

In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Adeyeye, the PDP described the development as unacceptable.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday received the visiting president of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Quattara at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Mr. Quattara, arrived the Presidential Villa at about 12.15 p.m., was introduced to some cabinet ministers and presidential aides by President Buhari before the commencement of their closed door meeting.


The President of the Senate Dr, Bukola Saraki has said that the sack of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babchir Lawal had vindicated the senate.

This is even as he has directed all committees of the Senate to quickly conclude all corruption investigations currently pending before them.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was conspicuously absent at the All Progressives Congress’ caucus meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the new Banquet Hall, Aso Rock, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) however reported that the Turakin Adamawa may have travelled out of the country.

Alhaji Danladi Sankara, former Senator representing Jigawa Northwest, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sankara was received by the Jigawa Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru at the Malam Aminu Kano triangle Square on Sunday in Dutse.
