The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, approached the Federal High Court in Abuja where he filed an application for an order before the court to declare the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as “acts of terrorism and illegality.” The order also seeks to proscribe the existence of IPOB throughout Nigeria, with particular attention paid to the South-East and South-South regions.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday affirmed its earlier ruling, ordering the sack of the House of Representative member representing Vandikya/Konshisha constituency of Benue state, Hon. Herman Hembe. The Court which was headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Onnoghen also reaffirmed the order directing the sacked House Member to return all salaries and allowances collected while serving illegally as a member of the House of Representatives.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday ordered commercial banks to immediately unfreeze all bank accounts belonging to the wife of the former president, Patience Jonathan.  The House Committee on Public Petition gave the order during a public hearing held in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday addressed the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The 11 minutes speech covered a wide range of issues including settling of innocent victims caught in conflicts in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan; security threats posed by Al Qaeda and Boko Haram in the Sahel and Lake Chad; efforts by ECOWAS in upholding democratic tenets, humanitarian issues, the North Korea Nuclear crisis and the Myanmar crisis among others.
