President Tinubu Suspends NSIPA Boss, Halima Shehu

President Bola Tinubu has approved the suspension of Halima Shehu as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) over financial misappropriation. With the suspension of Shehu and investigation into the allegations of financial embezzlement leveled against her, Dr Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, has been appointed in an acting capacity as NC/CEO pending the conclusion of the investigation.

I’ll sustain Akeredolu’s legacies - Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised to sustain the legacies of his predecessor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. Mr. Aiyedatiwa said this during a candlelight procession organized by members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ondo State chapter, in honor of the late Akeredolu, at Government House, Akure, on Friday night. He described the late Akeredolu as a fearless legal luminary and a dedicated leader. The governor said the late Akeredolu’s commitment to justice and service to the people earned him the title of “Senior Advocate of the Masses.”

FG Appoints New Directors Across Aviation Agencies

The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has revealed the engagement of 46 new directors across the aviation sector, following the recent dismissal of some of its directors. The recent appointment is for five key agencies under its purview, which are; The agencies affected by these appointments are the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigeria Metrological Agency (NiMET), Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and Nigeria Safety and Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

Reps To Investigate N210bn Out of School Children Funds

The House of Representatives has decided to investigate over N210 billion funds disbursed for the Alternative School Programme, Better Education Service Delivery for All, At Risk Children Programme and Interventions Programme for Out of School Children from 2016 to date. The motion was adopted after a motion was raised by Hon. Tijani Ismail Kayode from Kwara State during plenary on 19th December 2023. Kayode stated that in October 2019, the Ministry of Education confirmed that the Federal Government committed the sum of N10 billion for the removal of 10.2 million out-of-school children from the streets within five years to enrol two million children annually.

Ondo State Deputy Governor Sworn In As Governor

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), aged 67, passed away on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. His deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the substantive governor of the state in a somber ceremony on Wednesday evening by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola.

Senate Committee Issues IGP 24-Hour Ultimatum To Fetch CAC Registrar

The Senate Committee on Finance has directed the Inspector General of Police to compel the appearance of the Registrar General of Corporate Affairs Commission, Ishaq Hussain Magaji, before it within 24 hours. The committee issued this directive on Wednesday, citing Section 89 (2) of the 1999 Constitution to compel Magaji’s appearance after he ignored three invitations to appear before them. Magaji was expected to appear to defend the CAC 2024 budget after some financial discrepancies were spotted by the committee in the accounts submitted and needed further explanation.

Minister of Labour and Employment Resigns From Position

Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, has resigned from his position in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet. The former Plateau State Governor who served as the Director-General of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation months leading to the February Presidential election tendered his resignation after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, marking his departure from the cabinet.
