2023 Elections: Peter Obi Dissociates Self From Nationwide Protest Amid NHRC Hate Speech Concerns

Labour Party presidential candidate of the just concluded presidential election, Peter Obi, has dissociated himself from the purported Monday 20th of March 2023 nationwide protest posted across social media platforms with “EndINEC”, “ENDNigeria” as hashtags. Also, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has expressed concern over the rise in the spread of hate speech across the country. 

Buhari Reappoints Seven ICPC Board Members

President Muhammadu Buhari has on 15th March 2023, sworn in seven reappointed board members of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), before the commencement of the week's Federal Executive Council meeting at the council chamber of the State House, Abuja. The renewed tenure is expected to elapse in March 20227. All seven board members were first inaugurated in 2019 by Buhari. The members include Justice Adamu Bello (retd.), Katsina State; Hannatu Mohammed (Jigwa State); Olubukola Balogun (Lagos State); Obiora Igwedibia (Anambra State); Dr. Abdullahi Saidu (Niger State); Yahaya Dauda (Nasarawa State) and Grace Chinda (Rivers State).

Political Parties Can't Regulate INEC-Okoye

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that political parties can’t regulate the affairs of the Commission, adding that it was the Commission’s duty to supervise the activities of political parties. This was made known on Sunday by Mr Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education during the Politics Today programme on Channels TV. Okoye made this disclosure in response to the request of the Labour Party (LP) to monitor the Commission’s process of reconfiguring and backing up of results on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices.

I Have No Preferred Candidates For 10th N’Assembly Leadership - Tinubu

The president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while having a discussing about the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, yesterday dissclosed that he had no preferred candidate for the leadership. Tinubu stated this at a gathering of the new members-elect to the National Assembly organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President-elect’s position on the composition of the leadership of the soon-to-be composed 10th National Assembly was delivered at the meeting by the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima.

2023 Elections: Rufai Hanga Defeats Shekarau At The Supreme Court

Senator Rufa’i Hanga, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District in the February 25 general election has been affirmed as the candidate of the party over Ibrahim Shekarau. Justice Emmanuel Agim, who delivered the judgement on Friday, 10th of March 2023, held that the appeal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lacked merit and substance and therefore dismissed it in its entirety.

2023 Elections: 13 SANs To Defend Bola Tinubu At The Presidential Tribunal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday assembled a team of highly qualified and experienced lawyers to represent it at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. The legal team will defend the victory of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Petition Tribunal. This is contained in a statement issued by Ahmad El-Marzuq, APC National Legal Adviser.
