No Plot To Impeach Akpabio, Says Special Adviser

Eseme Eyiboh, the Special Adviser on Media to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio refuted reports in circulation alleging some senators were working to impeach Akpabio, adding that the alleged plot is “complete imagination”.

Tribunal Sacks Enugu LP Rep, Declares PDP Candidate Winner 

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu on Friday nullified the return of the Labour Party’s candidate, Prof Sunday Nnamchi, as the House of Representatives member for Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State. Delivering judgement in the petition filed by the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Prince Cornelius Nnaji, the three-man panel of justices led by A. M. Abubakar, declared Nnaji as duly elected in the election held on February 25, 2023.

Planned Strike: NLC Boycotts Meeting With FG

The national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has boycotted a last minute meeting with the Federal Government (FG) convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, with the aim of preventing the 2 day earning strike set to commence tomorrow, Tuesday.

The board of trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has suspended Rabiu Kwankwaso over alleged anti-party activities for a period of six months. NAN reports that the suspension of Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate in the February 25 election, was announced on Tuesday at the end of a meeting held in Lagos. The NNPP BoT also suspended the national working committee (NWC) of the party and appointed new officers, which include Agbo Major as the acting national chairman. Ogini Olaposi was appointed as acting national secretary, and 18 others to different positions.

Kogi Central Senatorial Election: Tribunal Declares Natasha Winner

The Kogi State Election Petitions Tribunal has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election which was held in February 2023. The tribunal also invalidated the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abubakar Ohere. The unanimous judgment of the 3-man panel led by Justice K. A. Orjiako stated that Ohere’s results were inflated in 9 polling units located in the Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Designer Of Nigerian Flag Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, Dies Aged 84

The designer of the Nigerian Flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, has passed on at the age of 87. His son, Akinkunmi Samuel announced his demise on Wednesday via his Facebook page. “Life is indeed transient; I can say boldly that you lived a life with a landmark. “Continue to rest, my father! Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (O.F.R): A great man has gone,” he wrote.

President Tinubu Promises Reversal Of Servicing Debt With 90% Revenue 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described as unsustainable servicing the nation’s debt with 90 per cent of its revenue. Mr. President promised to reverse same as such is a path to destruction. President Tinubu spoke yesterday at the kick off of the 63rd Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) annual conference, at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. He was accompanied to the venue by Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi (SAN). The president promised to depart from what he described as a “destructive path”. Tinubu, who also noted that erratic power supply constituted a major hindrance to the growth of the economy, urged Nigerians to have positive attitude while his government intensifies efforts to reposition the country.
