The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won 10 local government areas in the ongoing council polls in Kaduna state, NAN reports.

The APC secured the most votes in Soba, Zaria, Lere, Ikara, Makarfi, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Kagarko, Kudan, Igabi and Kajuru local councils.

In Zaria, APC polled 42,859 votes, while PDP got 16,033. In Soba, APC got 40,903, while PDP scored 13,835.

It’s still an early lead for now as results are being expected from 10 councils.

Elections were cancelled in Jaba and Kaura local governments due to security concerns.

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won the chairmanship and councillorship election in Zangon Kataf local government area.

Elias Maza of the PDP scored 55,643 votes to defeat APC’s John Hassan who polled 31,514 votes.

The council elections were conducted using electronic voting machines in the area.

This is the first time a state has adopted the use of electronic machines to conduct elections in Nigeria.

A total of 31 political parties had earlier announced their decision to boycott the local councils’ election.
