Following the release of a purported videos showing the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje collecting bribe from some yet-to-be-identified contractors in the state, the Kano State House of Assembly on Monday constituted a seven-man committee to investigate the authenticity of the clips.
The clips were released a few days ago by Daily Nigerian, an online media outfit.
According to Punch, the constitution of the committee followed a motion of urgent public importance moved at the plenary session by a member representing the Warawa Constituency, Alhaji Labaran Madari, which was seconded by a member representing the Kano Municipal Constituency, Baffa Babba Danagundi.
According to Madari, the house has the mandate to investigate any matter of public concern, with the aim of ensuring peace and harmony in the state.
During the plenary, the Majority Leader, Danagundi, counseled the executive arm of government to suspend its decision to take a legal action against the Daily Nigerian and its publisher, insisting that the House should have been given a time frame to investigate the alleged video clip.
The committee which is headed by the Majority Leader, Danagundi, has the Chief Whip, Madari; Zubairu Massu, Garba Ya’u Gwarmai, Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa, and Abubakar Uba Galadima, as members, while Mr Mujitaba Aminu will serve as Secretary of the committee. The Committee is expected to submit is report within one month.
