The Deputy Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu has reportedly tendered his resignation. According to Dailytrust, Ahmed is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and he is expected to contest against his former boss, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who may fly the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the gubernatorial poll in 2019 elections.

According to the report, Ahmed submitted a copy of his resignation letter to the state House of Assembly but it was not read at the floor of the House during Tuesday’s sitting.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has called on its members in Sokoto state not to panic over the omission of Governor Aminu Tambuwal's name from the list of candidates contesting the governorship election in 2019.

The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary assured that at the appropriate time, the needful would be done.
