The Chairman of Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property and Special Assistant to the President on Prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has said the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, will soon be declared wanted, following his refusal to appear before the panel on Tuesday.

Chief Obono-Obla who stated this on Wednesday in a chat with Vanguard said the panel has approached a court to secure a warrant of arrest. He explained that when the warrant is secured, the police would be directed to effect his arrest. He further disclosed that the move became necessary since he refused to reappear before the panel after being released on health ground.

“Well, that man still didn’t honour his own words and he’s still evading arrest. We learnt he has run away to Imo State but I can assure you that we will arrest him.

“We are going to court to get a warrant of arrest so that any police officer or law enforcement officer can pick him wherever and whichever part of the country he is found. Well, I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag but we will do that very soon.”

The Senator was reportedly arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Sunday but was released after developing high blood pressure. Sen. Uzodinma who was supposed to reappear before the panel to clarify his involvement in a dredging contract scam awarded by the Nigeria Port Authority however failed to show up.

Meanwhile, he had since denied report of his arrest. He claimed that the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha was behind his ordeal.
