Aggrieved Civil Society Organization under the aegis of Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations in Nigeria (FOGON) on Wednesday called on the US government not to grant entry visa to former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, over his alleged involvement in bribery.

The demonstrators stormed the US embassy in Abuja to present their reasons in a letter to the consulate titled: “The Imperatives of Rejecting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Visa Request,”

The aggrieved protesters, who were adorned in uniform orange T shirts and faze caps, bore various placard with inscriptions such as “No issuance of politically motivated visa to Atiku,” “Nigerians say no to America’s interference in the nation’s politics,” among similar inscriptions.

Vigil360 approached one of the leaders, who simply introduced himself as Deji. He said the protest became imperative as the US Government was attempting to interfere with the nation's democratic process. He explained that since the US failed to grant Atiku Visa for many years, issuing him one now would amount to endorsing his presidential ambition.
