President Buhari has nominated Major General, Paul Tarfa (Rtd) as the chairman of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) subject to ratification by the Senate. Mohammed Alkali was also nominated as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission with nine others as board members of the Commission. 

According to PremiumTimes, the nomination was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, requesting the affirmation of the nominees as was read out by the Senate President at the plenary on Wednesday. 
The Senate had in October 2016, approved a bill seeking the establishment of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to rebuild the Boko-Haram destroyed North-East region of the country.


Subsequently, President Buhari assented to the bill in October 2017.

1. Major General Paul Tarfa (Rtd) – Chairman
2. Mohammed Goni Alkali – MD/CEO
3. Mohammed Jawa B. – Executive Director (ED), Admin and Finance
4. Musa Uma Yashi – ED Humanitarian Affairs
5. Umar Maiwada Mohammed – ED Operations
6. Hon David Sabo Kente – Member representing North-east zone
7. Benjamin Adeniyi – Member representing North Central zone
8. Asamo M. Mohammed – Member representing North West zone
9. Theo Nkechi – Member representing South East
10. Bassey Uke – Member representing South-South zone
11. Olawale Osun – Member representing South West zone.
