There has been speculation that Adams Oshiomhole's fate to remain as the party chairman remains hazy as the All Progressive Congress (APC) governors are planning to shop for Buhari successor ahead 2023.

Punch reported on Monday that despite Buhari’s meeting with the progressive Governors on Thursday and his subsequent meeting with Osiomhole on Friday, it was revealed that some of the Governors were still insisting that the Party chairman should vacate his office.

It was learnt that the action of the Progressive governors was hinged on their quest to determine Buhari successor ahead of 2023 which Oshiomhole appeared be a stumbling block on their way to actualise it.

Although, Ali Bukar, the Zamfara state APC party chairman during their meeting with Buhari has caution Mr. President to be wary of the governor’s ploy.

Bukar expressed worry over the activities of some progressive, saying instead of them to support Osiomhole to reposition the party; they are busy plotting his downfall.

He disclosed the governors are doing this not because they are dissatisfied with the National Chairman's performance according to the party's constitution but they are doing so to actualise their individual interest ahead of the 2023 general election, knowing fully that the administration tenure just commenced.

Punch reported that one of the APC’s National Working Committee members who wanted to remain anonymous said that most of the progressive governors who want Oshiomhole out are the ambitious ones.

Another source who did not want to mention his name disclosed that all the intrigues are geared towards the 2023 being sponsored by the governor to secure their ambition, and as a party, they are working towards securing the government even after Buhari is gone.

The outgoing governors are of the opinion that Buhari's successor should emerge amongst them and to ensure that they have to be in the control of the party at all levels.

He revealed that from experience, whoever controls the party has more advantage over others and that are what they are working to achieve.

However, a source amongst the progressive governor revealed that Oshiomhole deliberately arranged the meeting to include Buhari was a strategy to foil his removal.

He added, it is becoming more glaring to Oshiomhole that he is losing the grip as more governors are turning against him, now that he has less than four governors who are backing him.

Recall, the Director-General of the Forum had last month asked Oshiomhole to convene for National Executive committee meeting or resign.

He claimed under Oshiomhole, the party was struggling with crises in Bayelsa, Ondo, Anambra and Edo states.

However, the National Vice Chairman (North), Inuwa Abdulkadir, said, in an interview with one of our correspondents, that the APC could not shut governors out of the party.

He said they are the major stakeholders of the party, over time politicking has proven how strategic governors are, as they are the leaders of the party at state level as every elected member come through a state, saying politicking is about interest and this is democracy.
