There was uproar and backlash yesterday as President Buhari's Daughter, Hannan flew the presidential Jet Yesterday for her private business in Bauchi state.

The photograph of the Buhari’s daughter alighting from the presidential Jet went viral on social media yesterday.

The Buhari daughter's action attracted condemnation from the opposition and some social media bloggers who opined that the presidential Jet is exclusively reserved for official function of the president as spelled out by law not transferable to his family members for any purpose other than official use.

Daily Trust reports that state government dignitaries were seen at the Bauchi state Airport welcoming the president’s daughter.

Hannan, a first-class Graduate of a London based university, a photographer by profession was invited by the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwan Adamu to attend a durbar, a traditional social function so that she can display her talent of the photography as well as cover some historical tourism sites in the state.

However, the action of the president’s daughter for flying the presidential jet did not go down well with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), calling it an abuse of office by the Buhari Government to be annexing his presidential privileges to members of his family.

PDP claimed it was the greatest form of corruption for a president daughter to chauffer herself on private business to Bauchi state.

Speaking through its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the action as provocative, condemnable, improper and an unpardonable slap on the sensibility of Nigerians.
The party argued that it was an outright recklessness on the side of Buhari administration to annex a national asset for an unofficial private use.

However, instead of apologising for its action,  Buhari government were busy trying to justify their action in arrogance the PDP added.

According to the PDP, Buhari should apologise for approving the Presidential Jet for the purpose of taking photograph at a durbar event in Bauchi state.

“Perhaps, the Buhari Presidency forgot that it is public knowledge that the Presidential fleet can only be authorized for use by the President, the First Lady, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, former Presidents, Presidential delegation and no one else.

Also, the Executive Director, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, told Daily Trust on Sunday that the development was a form of political corruption which is unexpected from the President Buhari’s administration.

Rafsanjani opined that it was surprising for the government that is preaching the gospel of transparency and accountability and which Nigerian expected it to be different from the previous administration to engage in such abuse of office.

Meanwhile, in its defence, the presidency through its spokesperson Mallam Garba Shehu said, “It’s true that a member of the First Family was flown to Bauchi yesterday on a mission duly authorized. It wasn’t an impromptu or improper trip because it followed normal procedure. “The Presidency informed the National Security Adviser of the mission who in turn informed the Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet.

“The normal practice in existence for a long time is that the Presidential Air fleet is available to the President and the first family and four others.
