The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has today Wednesday issued a certificate of return to the newly declared  Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma as the duly elected Governor in the 2019 General election by the Supreme Court at the commission Headquarters in Abuja.

The commission acted shortly after it receives a letter from the Supreme Court informing them of its judgement that declared Mr. Uzodimma as the duly elected Governor of Imo State.

The Apex Court declared Senator Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Tuesday as the winner of the march 9, 2019 gubernatorial election while sacking Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Court also ordered that the Certificate of Return issued to Emeka Ihedioha be withdrawn and same should be issued to Uzodimma, a former chairman Senate Committee on Aviation.

Uzodinma was presented with the Certificate of Return by the National Commissioner, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu alongside two other INEC commissioners, Abubakar Nahuche and Dr. Mustafa Lecky.

This came as Mr. Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, the publicity Director of the Commission earlier revealed that the issuance of the certificate will soon be done.

Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu had earlier informed the press what was causing the delay.
