The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has called on President Buhari and the ruling party to sack Adams Oshiomhole with immediate effect as the party Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) before he destroys the party.
CNPP made this call saying doing so will save the APC and the Nigerian democracy at large as currently, the activities of Oshiomhole is capable of sinking the APC as a party if not tamed.
Contained in a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the CNPP, Chief Willy Ezugwu said nothing is detrimental to the APC as a party more than Oshiomhole style of leadership.
The CNPP was reacting to statement credited to Oshiomhole that “no person should be sworn in as the Bayelsa state Governor” despite the ruling of the Apex Court that upturn the victory of the APC.
He said a person whose character is inconsistent and get off balance with the slightest provocation is capable of doing unimaginable things against the party.
Ezugwu revealed this can be buttressed by Mr Oshiomhole impulsive decision he has made concerning the APC in order to conceal his obvious attempt to act more confidently and in control than he really is.
In his statement which partly reads; “Nothing can harm the APC as a party more than this kind of leadership.
It is clear that the loss of Zamfara, Rivers and now Bayelsa state is not too good testimonies of his leadership as it portrays the party as lacking in internal democracy, which is not a good example to all other political parties. ”
“It is observable that Nigerians are gradually getting fed up with the many political comedies ascribed to Adams Oshiomhole since he ascended the leadership seat of APC and the party will pay dearly for it in the nearest future if his unguarded utterances continue unbridled by the elders of his party.”
Mr Ezugwu added, “We cannot forget his infamous call on corrupt politicians to join his party for their “sins” to be forgiven.
We seriously believe that Adams Oshiomhole’s utterances have become a threat to Nigerian democracy and a show of absolute disregard to due process and a tendency to incite the people against democratic institutions and organs of government just to have his way.
He said as an organisation that is most interested beyond party divide in the country, we called on President Buhari and other relevant organs of the APC to restrain Oshiomhole before he sends the whole party packing.
