The hope of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to wrestle power from Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state through court processes seemed to have been dashed as the court ruled today that the PDP gubernatorial primaries in Kogi state held on 3rd September 2019 were marred by irregularities and therefore the party had no candidate.
Recall that Vigil 360 reported that Engr. Musa Wada was returned the winner of the PDP Gubernatorial Primaries held on 3rd September in Kogi state.
Alhaji Abubakar Idris who was one of the party aspirants was not satisfied with the conduct of the primaries and subsequently approached the court to challenge the victory of Engr. Musa Wada.
Idris who came second during the primaries through his counsel argued that he was the right winner of the primaries, alleging that 600 votes were smuggled in favour of Wada and another 241 votes went missing all to pave way for Wada.
In his ruling, Justice John Olurunfemi after considering all evidences presented to him by the aggrieved ruled that “the PDP primaries was hasty and inconclusive”.
