PDP Fixes June 23 And 24 For Edo Guber Primaries

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has fixed June 23 and 24, for the nomination of its candidates ahead of the September 10 Edo State governorship electionThe party in a timetable signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd.) stated that the nomination will commence on May 29 with the sales of expression of interest and nomination forms. While the last day for the submission of nomination forms will be on June 2.

Thursday, June 4, is set aside for the screening of candidates and Saturday, June 6 is the date fixed for the consideration of appeals emanating from the screening exercise. Ward congresses to elect a three-member ad hoc ward delegates will hold on June 9 and appeals arising from the ward congresses will be entertained on Friday, June 19.

Local government congresses to elect one national delegate and persons with disability per local government is scheduled to hold on June 16. It was gathered that interested aspirants are expected to pay the sum of one million Naira for the collection of Expression of Interest form, and N20 million for the nomination form.

In addition, in line with efforts of the party's leadership to encourage women participation in elective offices, any woman interested in contesting for the governorship primary would only pay one million naira for the Expression of Interest Form, while the nomination form will be free of charge.
