Following the pressure mounted by party members on zoning arrangement for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead 2023 presidential election, the party said former president Goodluck Jonathan is free to contest come 2023 on its platform.

The party said its presidential ticket is free to all Nigerians and has not been zoned to any region of the country for now.

This statement was revealed by the PDP National Party chairman, Prince Uche Secondus during his media parley yesterday in Abuja.

Secondus disclosed that his party has already set up a committee to review the party’s performance during the 2019 general election to give room for adjustments.

However, when the party chairman was asked whether the insinuation his party will front former President Jonathan as its flag bearer, he said, once the committee submits its report, all interested party can throw in their hats into the ring.

Secondus said, “I stand by my position that the Governor Bala-led committee is still working, they are coming out with a report on why we lost and by the time they finish, we will take decisions and the decision is not for the National Working Committee but for the entirety of our party.

“I believe that whoever is interested in the 2023 election, including the former President, the chances are there because the PDP is a party of all.

“Everybody will have that opportunity but in clear terms, we have not taken any decision to give anybody the ticket for now.”
