The People Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the rumor that its party has adopted a presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 General election.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Olagbondiyan, made this known saying the party has not decided on when it shall commence the sale of the nomination form to candidates, therefore, the party has no flag bearer.
Ologbandiyan said the clarification has become necessary to debunk the report going around that the PDP has adopted its former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2023 General election.
The Spokesman further reiterated that his party will always protect the interest of democracy as PDP will never yield to the imposition of candidates on any of its members.
In his statement which partly reads; “We have not started selling forms, until then, we don’t know those who are contesting for the presidential ticket of the party for 2023.
“Moreover, we have not started selling forms,” Ologbondiyan said in Abuja yesterday.
The former vice president, Atiku Abubakar was the PDPs flag bearer in the 2019 general election but lost to the incumbent, President Buhari of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
