President Muhammadu Buhari has today received homage from former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel and former Speaker House of Reps, Dimeji Bankole at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as the duo joined the progressive party recently. Gbenga Daniel defected from the main opposition, the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) where he recently served as the Director-General of campaign to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 general election, while Bakole dumped his Action Democratic Party (ADP).

Accordingly, the Chairman, Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All progressive Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe state, accompanied the new decampees to see president Buhari.

In solidarity, the Governor of Kebbi and his Jigawa counterpart joined the new chieftain to receive blessing from president Buhari being the leader of the party.

Former Governor Daniel was in charge of Ogun state from 2003-2011 had a similar experience with his contemporary, Dimeji Bankole who was also the Speaker House of Reps from 2007-2011. In a bid to secure ground as 2023 is around the corner, politicians have been on the defection spree as more and more shall be witnessed these days.

The APC in recent years have been receiving decampees from across the opposition parties in the country, recently was the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi who left PDP for the progressive.
