The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has emphasized that the deadline for the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise remains July 31, adding that those who register more than once would not obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC). This was made known during a news conference by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), INEC FCT, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
According to him, on Sunday, July 31, the Commission would suspend all CVR activities except the collection of already printed PVCs.
He further stated the Commission extended its closing hours to 5 pm daily including Saturdays and Sundays, in order to accommodate those acquiring their PVCs at the last hour of the exercise.
The REC said, “Any double or triple registration is null and void, we will go through our machines after these exercises and clean our register so that we can come up with the list of people who are genuinely going to vote in 2023.
“So let me appeal to people that they should always tell our staff at registration centers exactly what they want to do, whether they have never registered before, if they have lost their cars, or it is defaced or they want to transfer from one place to another”.
He said that in order to ensure inclusivity, the Commission commenced the registration for Persons With Disabilities on Monday, July 25, at designated CVR centres.
