President Muhammadu Buhari has resumed duties few hours after addressing the nation, following his return from medical vacation in London. A State House Press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, disclosed that the President has notified the National Assembly in writing, of his return and resumption of duties.

According to the press release, the letter reads in part: “In compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), I write to intimate that I have resumed my functions as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from Monday 21st August 2017, after my medical follow-up in the United Kingdom.”

Buhari handed over government to his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, on May 7, before he left for London. He returned to the country on August 19 and addressed the nation on August 21 prior to his resumption.
