NAFDAC: Acting DG Appointed, Former DG Exits

A director of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Monica Eimunjeze has been appointed as the Acting Director-General (DG) of the Agency while the former DG, Mojisola Adeyeye is supposedly meant to commence her retirement leave. According to reports, this development was disclosed in an internal memo dated November 17, 2022, and circulated to units and departments by NAFDAC’s, Director of Human Resources Management, A. U. Oboli.


It reads: “The management is in receipt of a letter appointing Dr. Monica Eimunjeze as the acting Director-General (DG) of NAFDAC with effect from 12th November 2022. I am therefore directed to bring this development to you for information and guidance”.

She obtained a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 1986; a doctorate in pharmacy from Mercer University, Georgia, United States of America (USA) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology, Innovation and Regulatory Science from Purdue University, USA.

She has served in several positions in the Agency such as Director, Registration and Regulatory Affairs; Director, Drug Evaluation and Research, amongst other positions.

The outgoing DG, Adeyeye was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2017 to serve for a tenure of five years.
