According to reports, friends of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipire Sylvia, have picked the N50 million All Progressives Congress (APC) Nomination and Expression of Interest form on his behalf. The group of friends reportedly picked up the nomination form for the governorship election of Bayelsa state at the National Secretariat of the APC in Abuja on Monday.

Sylvia was the governor of Bayelsa state from between 2008 to 2012 and was appointed in 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

APC commenced the sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states on 15 February 2023 to end on 22 February 2023 while the last day for the submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is also slated for 22 February.

Screening of aspirants is fixed for 24 to 26 March 2023; publication of screening results is billed for 28 March, while the screening appeal will hold the next day, 29 March.

Furthermore, the APC scheduled April 10, 2023, for the party’s governorship primaries in Imo and Bayelsa states but no date was fixed for Kogi state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the 2023 governorship elections in the 3 states to hold on 11 November 2023.
