Google Celebrates Nigeria On Election Day

Google, the largest and most popular search engine in the world, is celebrating Nigeria on its website on Saturday with a special doodle as voting for the next president of the nation gets underway. The election will see the emergence of a new leader, who will take over affairs of the nation from President Muhammadu Buhari. The doodle features the Nigerian green-white-green colour, with a picture of an election ballot box displayed. It has been used to celebrate numerous historical events and figures around the globe

Meanwhile, the election has witnessed massive turn out of voters around the FCT Abuja the nation’s capital, and other states including Kano, Ekiti which many described as encouraging. In Abuja Usuma Ward Bwari Area Council, large number of electorates where already on ground even before the arrival of INEC officials.

In Ekiti, many electorates stormed various polling units in towns and villages to exercise their franchise.

Eligible voters began arriving at the voting centres for accreditation as early as 7:00a.m.

There was full presence of heavy security agencies such as the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), Immigration, traffic warden among others in many of the places and communities of the state.
