The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally opened the 2023 Presidential Election National Collation Centre on Sunday at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu issued guidelines for the collation of election results and he also advised political parties to only collate their figures from the Commission.

He said the collation of presidential election results would be conducted at four (4) levels – first at the 8,889 wards, then the 774 Local Government Areas, then the State Collation Officers for the Presidential Elections (SCOPs) at the state level i.e. 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will submit the votes per candidate.

He also stated that the Collation Centre would remain open all day and night with short breaks, adding that the collation from states would commence by 6 pm when state results would have arrived.
