LP Defeats APC In Lagos State Presidential Election

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) has defeated his All Progressive Party (APC) opponent, Bola Tinubu Ahmed in the just concluded presidential election in Lagos State. Mr. Obi who scored 582,454 votes defeated his closest contestant, Tinubu who got 572, 606 votes and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came as the second running up with 75,750 votes in Nigeria's most populous state.

Obi won nine local government areas of the state, the LGAs are Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu, Ojo, and Alimosho while Tinubu triumphed in Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Surulere.

The number of registered voters was put at 6,942,885; accredited voters were 1,347,152, valid votes were 1,271,451; rejected votes: were 64,278, and total votes cast were 1,335,729.
