INEC Declares Abba Kabir Of NNPP As Governor Elect Kano

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been declared the winner of the just concluded gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections conducted over the weekend. The NNPP candidate was declared the winner with 1,019,602 votes against his closest rival, APC’s candidate, Nasir Gawuna, who polled 890,705 votes, defeating Nasir with over 100,000 votes. The result was announced on 20th March 2023, by the Independent National Electoral Commission Returning officer, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim.

The celebration also extended to other parts of the metropolis like the state road, Murtala Muhammad way, Zaria road, and Zoo road, among others.

Subsequently, the Kano State government had earlier announced a curfew in its state to curb any form of post-election crisis.
