The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that its earlier decision to deny certificate of return to Rochas Okorocha, the outgoing Governor of Imo state and Senator-elect stands. INEC’s National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye disclosed this on Monday.

According to Okoye, the commission after reviewing all issues surrounding the declaration of the said senator as the returning officer for Imo west disclosed he made the declaration “under duress”

He added that the commission has made it clear why they denied Okorocha the certificate of return. If you check our website, we mentioned the declaration was made under duress. Consequently, the commission cannot give a certificate to anybody who procured winner-ship through duress.
