The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has slammed the rumour making round that its leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzakky is dead. The spokesperson of the group, Ibrahim Musa, on his official twitter page on Wednesday urged Nigerians to disregard the information saying their leader is doing okay.
The statement reads; “Contrary to the rumours making the rounds that the illegally detained leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky had died, we wish to draw the attention of the public that these stories are fake and should be disregarded.”
While calling for his release, the group demanded that their leader should be released as his health condition was further deteriorating, saying since his transfer into Kaduna Prison, his doctor has never been granted access to visit him and his health has been degenerating by the day.
The IMN therefore calls on the international community to keep demanding that the Nigerian government should respect human right by allowing a medical team to examine their leader to check his health condition and eventually release him.
Recall that the FCT Police Command on Tuesday said members of the El-Zakzaky-led IMN attacked security operatives and civilians in Abuja.
DSP Anjuguri Manzah, the Police Public relation Officer (PPRO) stated this in a statement, saying the members of the IMN went wild on Tuesday and attacked citizens around Beger roundabout with dangerous weapons.
