The Independent National Electoral Commission has named Valentine Ozigbo as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State. This was made known in a statement by Mr. Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee on Thursday in Abuja.
Okoye said the electoral body listed Ozigbo as Candidate following the number of issues relating to the governorship election as well as the recent court order directing the commission to recognize him as the PDP candidate.
“The commission was served with two judgments of the Court of Appeal (Awka Judicial Division) in respect of the candidature of the PDP for the Anambra governorship election.
“The Court of Appeal has ordered the commission to recognise and publish the name of Ozigbo as the governorship candidate,” Okoye said.
He also said Lilian Enemo has been listed as the Deputy governorship candidate for PDP.
The National Commissioner noted that the final list of candidates would be published on October 7 as provided in the schedule of activities for the election.
