APC Fixes March 26 For National Convention

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially postponed its February 26th National Convention to March 26 after deliberating for hours on Monday 21st of February 2022. In a letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the party, its zonal congresses will commence from February 24 2022. According to the letter signed by the party’s National Secretary Sen. John Akpanudoedehe and Caretaker Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni., the party will begin activities leading to the convention, including the conduct of zonal congresses from February 24.

The letter partly read thus: “This notice supersedes our earlier notice for National Convention referenced APC/NHDQ/INEC/019/22/14 this is predicated on the evaluation of our Party Constitution.”

While addressing the press, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe disclosed that “After deliberation and agreement with the CECPC, we have agreed and approved that the activities of the National Convention will commence from Feb. 24 and terminate on March 26, at Eagle Square with the National Convention.

Sen. John also announced the release of timetables and schedule of activities for the party’s zonal congresses across the 6 geopolitical zones of the country, “pursuant to Article 12.6 of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Constitution.”

According to the new guidelines, the party would publish the zonal committees' list on Thursday, February 24, 2022, while a meeting of zonal stakeholders holds on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

The party will commence the sales of nomination forms for zonal positions from Monday, February 28 to Thursday, March 3, 2022, and conduct screening for zonal aspirants on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, the Screening Appeal will sit and the party will adopt the screening report on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

He then added that the Zonal Congresses would hold across the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria on Saturday, March 12, 2022; appeals emanating from the congresses would be entertainment on Monday, March 14, 2022; while Wednesday, March 16, 2022, would be for the adoption of appeal report.
