Just in: Tinubu Gets Nod To Appoint 20 Special Advisers From Senate

The Senate has today approved the request put forward by President Tinubu to appoint 20 special advisers. The president's request was read at the plenary this morning, Tuesday by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan. Although President Tinubu did not mention or penciled any name of the special adviser he wishes to appoint in the letter he transmitted to the Senate.

However, immediately after the letter was read to the lawmakers, they hurriedly gave it a nod, approving the president to go ahead as requested. 

Commenting on the president's letter, the leader of the red chamber, Lawan said it is of “utmost urgency” that the president has his readymade team to hit the ground running with. 

In his statement, “Because there is no name for special advisers we will just approve it from here. We feel that that this is something of utmost urgency.” 

The request comes days after President Tinubu has already appointed, Geoge Akume and Femi Gbajabiamila as the Secretary to the government f the federation, SGF, and Chief of Staff respectively.
