Again Mike Tyson Accused Of Rape, Sued For $5M

American former professional boxer Mike Tyson is being accused of raping a woman after the two met at an Albany night club in the early 1990’s, according to the unidentified plaintiff’s $5 million lawsuit filed earlier this month. Tyson served three years in jail for raping a beauty pageant contestant in 1993. He struggled with guilt and remorse for the actions he committed back then, but the story seems to continue. The legal action in the upstate New York area was filed under the state's recently-adopted Adult Survivors Act that offers sexual assault victims a one-year time space to file lawsuits that took place years or even decades ago. The victim's identity remains a secret but she detailed how Tyson ran into her at a local night club called 'Septembers'. She later got into Mike's limousine after the boxer offered to pick up one of her friends and take both of them to a party. This victim claims Mike Tyson quickly started groping her and kissing her.

FG Reverses Ban Of Nigeria From International Basketball Competitions

The Federal Government (FG) has rescinded its decision of suspending Nigeria’s basketball teams from participating in international competitions for a two-year period. This was disclosed in Abuja at a news conference on Thursday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Ismaila Abubakar.

FG Orders Closure Of National Stadium Lagos

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has announced the temporary closure of the National Stadium, Surelere, Lagos, on 22nd April 2023, due to the collapse of a floodlight mast. Mr. Dare was on the ground to have a first-hand assessment following Wednesday’s collapse of one of the floodlight masts at the stadium. While the Minister expressed gratitude that there were no casualties from Wednesday’s incident, he reiterated the need for proactive measures to guarantee public safety.

President Buhari Commissions Naval Sports Complex

President Muhammadu Buhari traveled to Lagos State on Thursday to commission the new Naval Sports Complex and also declared open the 12th Nigerian Navy Games. The President expressed hope that the naval games would discover new talents capable of representing the Navy and the country in international competitions. Present at the event were the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo Olu; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi, amongst others.

FIBA Replaces D’Tigress With Mali For 2022 World Cup

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced that Nigeria’s Women's Basketball team, D’Tigress would be replaced by their counterparts from the Republic of Mali in the upcoming 2022 Women’s Basketball World cup scheduled to hold in Sydney, Australia.
