The Enugu Rangers International football club yesterday won the Defence force of Ethiopia 2-0 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round fixture, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu state. According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Rangers were unable to score during the first half, despite the chances they got.

Godwin Aguda was the star of the match as he scored 2 goals against the Defence force in the second half. The second half began with coach Gbenga Ogunbote ringing in the changes with two substitutions, replacing Godwin Zaki with Kelvin Itoya, and Ifeanyi George with Ibrahim Ajani.

The pressure on the Defence Force of Ethiopia paid off as the Rangers scored in the 55th minute through a penalty kick by Aguda. The hosts went in search of another goal and duly got their reward in the 85th minute, yet again from the penalty spot, with Aguda scoring again.

However, Defence Force will now host Rangers in the second leg fixture at the Addis Ababa Stadium in Ethiopia on Monday.
