U-19 Cricket: Nigeria Qualifies for First World Cup

Nigeria's Under- 19 National Cricket team, 'Junior Yellow Green' has secured its first ticket to represent the country at the Cricket World Cup.

This  feat was achieved by defeating Sierra Leone by 2 wickets, during the just concluded International Cricket Council (ICC) U-19 Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Windhoek, Namibia.

In a week-long competition, Nigeria emerged undefeated and became the first team from the tournament to join cricket playing nations like South Africa, Pakistan, India, England, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, and Australia.

President of Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Adams Yahaya Ukwenya said the feat is a memorable moment in Nigeria's cricket history.

The Cricket World Cup is scheduled to hold in South Africa in 2020.
