Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is making arrangements to play for the Nigerian men’s basketball team (D'Tigers) and may likely feature for Nigeria in the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Dinwiddie is said to be processing his Nigerian passport as this will make him eligible to feature for the team and join several other NBA players on D'Tigers roaster, which is coached by Warriors assistant Mike Brown.
Despite finishing 10th in All-Star voting for Eastern Conference guards and recording a career-high 41 points in December after averaging 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds through 64 games, the 27-year-old was not among the 44 players who USA Basketball named as finalists for the Olympic team in February. Dinwiddie will feature alongside Al-Farouq Aminu, Josh Okogie, Chimezie Metu and Ekpe Udoh.
Nigeria has already clinched a spot in the Olympics by winning Group M at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
