Brazil have returned to the top of FIFA world ranking according to the latest assessment released for the month of August by the football governing body. The country moved up to the top position despite not playing a single game since the July rankings were released. The report which has been widely described as shocking has the Confederation Cup Winner, Germany in the second position while Argentina maintained the third position.


Switzerland moved to the fourth position while Poland occupied an all-time high fifth position.


Meanwhile, the 2016 EURO Cup winner, Portugal fell out of the top five into sixth position followed closely by Chile, Columbia and Belgium.


Egypt and DR Congo were the only African Countries in the first thirty. While Egypt was ranked 25th, Congo occupied the 28th position.
