Nigeria’s female national basketball team, D’Tigress will depart the country on August 16, for Bamako to participate in the 2017 Women’s Afrobasketball competition. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 18. This disclosure was made by a member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation’s board, Sam Ahmedu.

“The arrangement on the ground now is for the team to travel to Bamako, Mali on August 16 and all necessary arrangements have been made for both the players and the coaches,” Ahmedu said.

The team played Raptors Basketball Club in a friendly game and lost 71-55 to in a warm up game.

The D’Tigress are drawn in group B along with Senegal, Egypt, Mozambique, Guinea and Congo.

“It was good that the team lost the test game because it will help the coaches to know the area they still need to improve on. And more so, it is better for them to lose now here than losing in Mali,” he said.
