EX-Arsenal Chairman, Late Peter Hill-Wood

Former Arsenal FC Chairman, Peter Denis Hill-Wood passed away at the age 82 on Friday, The Guardian reports. Hill-Wood who is survived by his wife, Sally, and children Sarah, Julian and Charles was born on 25th February, 1936 in Kensington, London. Educated at Eton College and worked most of his life in the banking industry.

During his time as Arsenal Chairman, he saw to the appointment of Arsene Wenger and George Graham before stepping down in 2013. His grandfather, Samuel and Father, Denis had earlier served as Arsenal Chairmen.


Hill-Wood was a key figure in the formation of the now Popular Premier League in 1992 and also the clubs move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium.


Arsenal's Executive Director, Ken Friar described Hill-Wood as "a rare and special man".


Arsenal players will be wearing black armbands at their matches today against Liverpool and on Tuesday against Fulham to pay respect to Hill-Wood.
