Abia Derby: Abia Warriors Suffers A Heavy Defeat At The Hands' Of Enyimba

Enyimba FC en route to their 4th win in a row in the NPFL thumbed local rivals Abia Warriors 4-1 on Monday at Okigwe Stadium moving 9th on the table with 27 points from 16 outings.

The much-anticipated Abia derby between Abia Warriors and Enyimba of Aba was scheduled to hold on Sunday 16th of February but was shifted as fans of both clubs clashed which resulted to the game being called off at the 25th minute.

Stanley Dimgba opened the scoring at the 41' min before a quickfire from  Victor Mbaoma at the 44' min. The home team was behind 0 - 2 at half time. A 61st min strike by Iwuala Anayo condemns warriors to an 8th defeat of the season. The game ended 1 - 4 - Stanley Dimgba scored a 66th min winner before Yakub Hammed got a consolation goal.

After the game Cameroon Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors FC, Coach Emmanuel Deutsche resigned. Mr Emmanuel who was disappointed with the outcome of the Oriental derby said he has no choice than to resign from the club because things were not going as planned.

“I have to resign because things are not working out for me.

“I know the quality of players I have and I don’t accept failures,”

Abia Warriors will be making a trip to katsina for a tie with Katsina Utd on Sun 23/02 while Enyimba FC will be in CAF Confederations Cup action against Horoya on Sun 1st of March.
