Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang worked his magic once again when he struck twice as the Gunners came from behind to clinch the FA Cup trophy at an empty Wembley Stadium. Arsenal on Saturday scored against Chelsea in a 2-1 win that brought them the FA Cup for a record 14th time. Chelsea took the lead in the Heads Up, five minutes through, the Gunners equalized and Aubameyang scored the winner for Mikel Arteta’s side to lift the cup.
Christian Pulisic had put the Blues in front, but Aubameyang equalized from the spot to send the two sides into half-time deadlocked at 1-1.
Aubameyang then shot home his side's second following some excellent footwork in the penalty area, while Chelsea saw Mateo Kovacic receive his marching orders for a second yellow card and also lost Cesar Azpilicueta, Pulisic, and Pedro to injury crosswise a hard-fought 90 minutes.
Arsenal closed out the win to secure a place in the Europa League next season but it was a bitter disappointment for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard at the conclusion of his first campaign in charge.
Arteta has made history as the first to lead Arsenal to FA Cup glory as both a captain and manager, the Spaniard having previously lifted the trophy on two occasions during his time at the Emirates.
Arteta also became the first Gunners boss to taste success in his debut season on the bench since George Graham, who confirmed the League Cup shortly after his appointment in the 1986-87 campaign.
