FIFA has on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the next rounds of international matches set to take place outside Europe, saying the international matches will only be played in Europe in a bid to reduce travels for players due to the ongoing global pandemic. FIFA Council made this known on its website stating that cancellation was part of a unanimous decision by the Bureau of the council in the men an women's international match calenders, adding that the development will be replacing the window period of the men's calendar between August 31 to September 8, 2020 "with a window from 24 January to 1 February 2022 for all confederations except UEFA."

Other changes include " to include the new period of January 2022 for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the exact dates to be determined at a later stage; and

"to include the new dates of the Concacaf Gold Cup 2021 (preliminary rounds from 2 to 6 July 2021 and final tournament from 10 July to 1 August 2021) with a mandatory release starting on 28 June 2021."

Meanwhile, the women's international schedule from September 14-22 was cancelled for all confederations except UEFA. Also, new calendars are live on FIFA's website.
