Osimhen Ruled Out For 100 days, Out Of AFCON

Super Eagles and Napoli Forward, Victor Osimhen, has been ruled out of action for at least three (3) months after undergoing a cheekbone and eye socket surgery. The 22-year-old picked up the injury in his side’s Serie A clash against Inter Milan after colliding with defender Milan Skriniarmen at the San Siro stadium on Sunday evening.

The Nigeria international was taken to the hospital immediately after leaving the pitch and was discharged on Monday after being diagnosed with an orbital and cheekbone injury, he then went for surgery a day later where Napoli revealed that Osimhen will be sidelined for three months which rules him out of next year Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) in Cameroon.

According to the Italian side, “On Tuesday morning, Victor Osimhen was operated on his cheekbone and eye socket by Gianpaolo Tartaro, who was assisted by Dr Mario Santagata with Dr Raffaele Canonico also present.

“Titanium plates and screws were used in the operation.

“The player is doing well and will remain under observation for the next few days.

“Osimhen is expected to return to action in three months.”

With the attacker now sidelined, the Super Eagles are now looking at suitable replacements with the likes of Emmanuel Dennis, Odion Ighalo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onauchu, Simy Nwankwo, David Okereke, Cyriel Dessers, Taiwo Awoniyi, Taiwo Awoniyi, Taiwo Awoniyi and Umar Sadiq.
