Afcon 2023Q: Nigeria Handed 'Soft' Draw

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been handed a soft route to Côte d’Ivoire for the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) as they are favourite to finish top of the group and qualify ahead of Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau and either Sao Tome and Principe or Mauritius who are members of the same group.

The Afcon 2023 qualifying round draw has been concluded in Johnanibourg, South Africa as defending champions Senegal have been drawn in Group L where they will face Benin, Mozambique and Rwanda, while 2021 Runner up Egypt has been drawn in Group D and will face Guinea, Malawi and Ethiopia.

Three (3) times winners Nigeria have been drawn in Group A alongside Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau and one of Sao Tome and Principe or Mauritius. While Ghana are in Group E where they will travel and host Madagascar, Angola and the Central African Republic (CAR)
