NPFL: Newly Promoted Bendel Insurance Tops Pile

Newly promoted Bendel Insurance of Benin City remains top of the pile after defeating Kwara United 1-0 away from home in a thrilling encounter. The victory over Kwara ensures that Bendel Insurance is the only team in the NPFL to record a 100 per cent record after three rounds.

The two-time NPFL champions have started the season on notable form, winning three out of three fixtures, winning their first league game away to Akwa United, a home victory against Plateau United before picking maximum points away at Kwara United.

The team who won their first League title eighteen months after Dr Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia established the club will be hoping to continue in this fine form so as to clinch a third league title.

Other fixtures in the third (3rd) Round see Remo Stars (Group A) and Niger Tornadoes (Group B) pick maximum points, Akwa United returned to winning away with an emphatic 3-0 away win at Nasarawa United, Plateau won 2-1 at home against Enyimba, El-Kanemi at home recorded a goalless draw with Gombe United, Lobi Stars truncated Abia Warriors’ winning streak win with an away win in Aba, while Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars of Akure share the spoils.

Holders, rivers united will be hoisting N’Tornadoes later on Tuesday.
